As many of you already know, in September 2006, just a few weeks shy of my 50th birthday (phew... how time flies), I finally decided it was time to retire from the professional tennis tour. I went out with a win, taking the US Open mixed doubles title with my buddy Bob Bryan, and while tennis will always be a huge part of who I am, that chapter in my life is officially closed. And you know, I haven’t looked back since.
Instead, I’ve been forging ahead, busier than ever. I’m getting to experience tennis from inside the commentator’s box with Tennis Channel and the BBC, and while I’m no longer spending all my time on the courts, I’m as fit and healthy as ever. In fact, I have been traveling the country promoting the importance of health and wellness at any age, and now with my book Shape Your Self in paperback, I’m hoping to inspire even more people to start taking those simple baby steps that will lead to a happier, healthier life. I also will be joining forces with AARP, the world’s largest advocacy organization for the 50+ community (over 39 million members!!!!), as AARP’s Health and Fitness Ambassador, in its pledge to raise awareness and make wellness and prevention efforts a top national priority. Talk about a lofty goal! But luckily, I’m always up for a challenge.
In addition to my health and fitness advocacy, I’m also getting a chance to devote more of my time to championing some other causes that are near and dear to my heart: human rights through my Rainbow Card Affinity Credit Card Program and animal rescue through my involvement with Pet Care Fund Sanctuary. And last but not least, I’ve tapped into my creative side with Slovak-born artist Juro Kralik, and we have been busy creating new pieces for our Art Grand Slam collection which will be exhibited at various venues around the world.
You, the fans, have inspired me to new levels and I want to pass that inspiration on. Leave me your comments, send me your thoughts, and together, we will make this website a fun and inspirational place to visit.
Thanks for coming!

Update December 4, 2007
In support of Martina's new role as AARP's Health and Fitness Ambassador, she will be taking off on a whirlwind press tour over the next few weeks. After spending Christmas with her mom and sister in Prague, Martina will be heading to Perth, Australia in late December to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Hopman Cup with her former doubles partner Paul McNamee. While in Perth, she will serve as this year's VIP guest commentator and will bring her Art Grand Slam exhibit to Australia for the first time. After that, she's off to Melbourne for the Australian Open. Stay tuned...
