Martina protested in peace by wearing a simple rainbow ribbon stitched to her shirt during legends' doubles matches at the 2012 Australian Open.
Melbourne's Herald Sun published a letter from Martina to Margaret Court regarding gay rights today. "Giving gays and lesbians the right to marry isn't just a gay rights issue; it is a human rights issue."

Martina was interviewed by Tennis Channel's James LaRosa in response to Margaret Court's comments regarding gay marriage and gays themselves. "Her myopic view is truly frightening as well as damaging to the thousands of children already living in same gender families," said Martina.

Martina joined Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper at a luncheon to raise money for the Women's Foundation of Colorado. More than 2000 guests attended the fundraiser for the foundation which builds resources and leads change so that the women and girls of Colorado are full and equal participants in society on the road to economic self-sufficiency.
